I baked eight pans of cinnamon rolls Sunday morning because I got it in my head that we should have something really yummy and awesome to give to people like Matthew’s work friends, our pastor, and our sweet neighbors.

And like ideas like this, the end result was good, and it was fantastic to hand out warm-from-the-oven rolls to friends…but it left me tired and grumpy the rest of the day because I had to get up so early. It was as if I gave every ounce of niceness and sweetness out with these, and Matthew was left with a mean old hag the rest of the day.

I survived the last two hours of our charter bus ride home from the mountains with 42 seventh graders by listening to a lot of non-classroom-appropriate music on my headphones.

I don’t really know why that helped. Also, the glazed look in my eyes here is not an attempt to look dreamy or wistful. It’s the deepest form of tiredness.

But what a good three days it was: crisp Fall air, mountains, hiking, and camp.
